Makana is a local and international 1st Place and overall award-winning 'Ori Tahiti soloist, as well as a Best Dancer award recipient from Heiva i Paris 2025 and the Conservatoire Artistique de Polynésie Française 2019. Her most recent achievement being featured in the Live Action Moana 2026 movie teaser trailer. Trained both classically and traditionally in Hula, 'Ori, and Māori dance she leads our classes with a lifetime of mana'o and experience.

Dorothy has been dancing most of her life. From early ballet lessons to watching her Mom dance Hula, she has always been drawn to Dance! She has just finished her Seventh Season dancing for the Golden State Warriors' Senior Team, The Hardwood Classics. Dorothy danced with Dance/10 performing locally and in Europe during the London Olympics. She started studying Hula with Halau Makana in 2014 and fell in love with Hula and with our dear Kumu Lani.

She created a class with Kumu Lani's daughter, Makana, called "Polynesian Dance Conditioning". We mix the styles and music for a fun, hopefully educational, hour of dance. She is currently teaching Hula to the wonderful students at Mastick Senior Center every Tuesday. Dorothy is looking forward to more exciting events and to share our mission of ALOHA!

Farrah has been dancing with hālau makana since she was 5 years old. With almost 10 years of experience she has a deep experience dancing both in performance and at the competitive level. She is also equipped with a thorough understanding of the culture and our teaching style.
